• Box bay - Rectangular or box-shaped (90 degrees), as opposed to polygonal
• Oriel - Rounded windows on the upper stories 0f a building; made popular during the Gothic era
• Bow - Semi-circular in shape with softer angles than traditional versions
• Circle - Closer to a perfect circle than the bow; often wrapped around the corners of a building

Cost of Bay Windows

Bay windows vary widely in price, ranging from a couple hundred dollars to many thousands.

• A large bay window for a living room might cost anywhere from $1,000 to $2,500, including installation.
• A small bay window above the kitchen sink might cost $200-$300.
• Very large, custom bay windows could top $5,000.

Material has biggest impact on price. Wood windows are the most expensive, followed by fiberglass, vinyl and aluminum. Size is a close second in determining price.

Cost is also slightly influenced by the type of window (i.e. casement or double hung).
